1/15/2012 Sunday 12pm Picnic-Potluck-Playdate-Whole Class Rehearsal

  • Let us meet after class at the park next to school (see our class Shutterfly link for directions).
  • Let’s make it a potluck: I will bring some dim sum, if you bring some healthy fruits, veggies or other non-sugary snacks or drinks! Hungry kids will eat healthy foods.
  • 12-1pm “My 7 Fan Dancers, Lion Dancer, Bianpao Bearers, Lantern Paraders only”rehearsal. Other classmates can eat lunch, play, rest and wait their turn.
  • I need volunteer moms to help me with Fan Dancers. To watch what I am teaching, to help guide the children during next rehearsals, especially when I am busy with the other groups. Children who are absent will need your help to bring them up to speed.
  • I would like to request a volunteer (my camera or yours) to film the rehearsals for my own review and also to help the children to learn the moves at home.
  • I can also use a volunteer mom in charge of Fan Dancers to help me put away some potluck food for our dancers in this group, since they will rehearse first and eat after the rest of the class.
  • 1-2pm Hexinnian Greeters only rehearsal. Fan Dancers eat lunch, rest, play.
  • I will show additional gestures/moves, identify partners, stage positions, walking the stage and finale position.
  • I can use volunteer mom (Sally, etc) to learn the moves along with me to help teach them to this group at other rehearsals). Children who are absent will need your help to bring them up to speed.
  • 2-3pm Whole class rehearsal.
  • Please check the class Shutterfly link for Directions to the park next to our school.

Monday 10am-12pm 1/16 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day no school

  • Location: Room 108 (Dance Room) at school.
  • If you cannot find us, some of us are probably using the deep sunken courtyard in front of school. Or potentially side yard (where kungfu class is usually held) if weather is good and no one is there.
  • After rehearsal, Optional: Join me and小蓮 Elena for Dim Sum lunch at Capitol Seafood (Diamond Square) ? I think it will be fun for the kids.

Sunday 1/22 after class: Whole Class Picnic-Potluck-Playdate-Rehearsal

  • We hope to nail the whole performance by today! Children should be ready to perform their parts by the end of today
  • Default location: Park close to school unless I can fanagle my way into the MPR with the front office. I take offers of a different location, park, home, club house (large, approximate Barclay about 80’x40’)
  • Let’s make it a potluck: I will bring some dim sum, if you bring some healthy fruits, veggies or other non-sugary snacks or drinks! Hungry kids will eat healthy foods.
  • Practice whole class formations beginning to end.
  • Happy Chinese New Year’s Eve! Year of the Dragon!

Last Whole Class DRESS REHEARSAL before the actual Showtime! Group Photos

  • Default Date/Time 1/27/2012 Friday 6-8pm MPR at school. Is there another date/time that works better for all? Please vote ASAP which is the best day below you can come so I can reserve room.
    • 1/26/2012 Thurs 4:30pm-6:30pm (My personal preference, please say yes to this day on my separate post, so I do not have to cancel my workshop on Friday)
    • 1/27/2012 Fri 3-5pm
    • 1/27/2012 Fri 6-8pm (Default)
  • If none works, please list your ideal wish date/time
  • By this day children should know their routine, stage position, have their costumes, shoes, etc.
  • This day is for the children to “perform” for the families who come.
  • Please be present so your child will be in our group photos. This is the best time for families to take PHOTO OF THEIR GORGEOUS CHILDREN, CLASS PHOTOS, GROUP PHOTOS because on show day, the children will be backstage in the afternoon and by the time the show ends, they will likely to be out of their costumes and in regular clothes.
  • This event can be a families’ potluck (Chinese New Year of the Dragon) if a volunteer decides to coordinate potluck. The children will do a show for us, we take photos, then they get out of their costumes and we eat! A great way for all the families in our class and teacher to bond over a show and a meal. (just a suggestion)

Mandatory: 1/28 Saturday Show day Rehearsal at The Barclay Theatre

  • Possibly 1pm? The school will announce that rehearsal time in 2 weeks.
  • Keep your noses glued to the Class Shutterfly Board

Those unable to attend most rehearsals until 1/28, we need your help,

please volunteer to be firecracker bearers, lantern paraders.

  • Also, If you have a sibling (kindergartener-4th grader, or any age child who look like that age range) who will come help us in the show to hold bianpao, please let me know. We need 2 bianpao holders.
  • We have gorgeous costumes, beautiful props, easy choreography and lots of stage time, you just sing and follow the lion.

1/28/2012 Saturday 7pm Showtime at the World Reknown Barclay Theatre!

Our children who perform, do not need to buy tickets, they will get to watch the show from the 2nd floor after their performance is done. Parents/families/friends go to the front office at school to get your tickets $7 each.

  • Please listen to the song as much as possible. If you can sing aloud together with your child daily, it will be super. When a child knows the song, the audience will see the twinkle in her/his eyes!
  • If you do not have the Chinese New Year CD, I have one just for you (free present from me) come and remind me and get one.
Amen! Thank you everyone for making this possible for our kiddos!
