Tutorial: How to make a miniature fairy tale axe

Tutorial How to make a miniature medieval axe for fairy tale scenes and doll house using natural materials and recycled materials. CastleofCostaMesa.Com

Sometimes, it is nice to give a gnome a little tool he can work with, for instance, an axe to gather firewood.

Here’s a very simple tutorial on how to make a miniature axe for your fairy tale scene or seasons table. This one was made for the grumpy gnome in Snow White and Rose Red.

Here’s what you will need:

(1) a twig

(2) a tiny piece of corrugated cardboard

(3) aluminum foil. I happen to have some Nashua silver aluminum foil tape from Home Depot!

The Very Simple Tutorial!

(1) Snap twig to preferred size

(2) cut corrugated cardboard into shape that resembles an axe blade. Open up cardboard to fit some twig into the “axe head”

(3) place cardboard/twig onto aluminum foil. Wrap. Trim off excess foil.

I like using that hardware store Nashua tape because it is sticky and sturdy.

Voila! Done!

Here are some men with axes…
