The papaya (wikipedia) tree is fascinating. Do you know there are male or female papaya plants? One can only determine the gender of the seedling 3-6 months after transplanting (Mercado). I remember our neighbors in Malaysia continually having to chop down their grown papaya trees when they find out that those trees were male and will not be bearing papayas for eating!
