Goal
Our Craft Group is making a group project for our Waldorf School of Orange County Annual Fundraiser in Spring, March 9, 2013. This page is started to stir creative juices and to plan for our “Enchanted Woodland Wet Felted Playscape Blanket” craft group project donation for this event.

Theme
- Fairy Tale, Magical, Mystical
- wet felted, needle-felted, knitted, crocheted, lovingly handmade from wool and other natural materials
- Woodland Theme
- Many Secret Hiding places, homes, nests, surprises to delight a young child
- Size would be about 40″ x 40″. Material has to be durable to sustain a child’s play

Possible Secondary Theme
- Secrets and surprises in the woods. Secret doorways, caves, nests, homes for animals, discoveries for children.
- Playful: swing, hammock, slide, rides, boat, teeter-toter, logs and trunks for hide and seek

Basic Landscape
Ideas to include in the basic Landscape:
- Cave for gnome with fire pit
- Hills and Valleys
- hill with snowy slope for rolling down or sledding
- Grey granite rocky terrain for quests, dangers and an eagle’s nest
- Pine Trees
- Water feature: Waterfall, swirling river, serene pond, sea. Bridge, boat.
- Pond with swan, lily pads, frog prince
- Spring meadow with wildflowers for the unicorn to frolick in
- Woodland Cottage with vines, hollyhocks, shiny bell, stepping stones, cobblestone paths leading the eye
- well
- Simple floral arch for springtime
- Trees, shrubs, ladder, hammocks, swing
- Red and white toadstools
- Tree stumps, fallen logs for resting on or hiding inside
- birds nest, burrows, hiding places, secret doorways, surprises of the woodland
- A touch of magic: unicorn, tower for the damsel, Rainbow arch gateway
Felted Playscape by Rjabinnik and Rounien. They have made an animal farm. We will be doing an enchanted forest. Look how beautiful the ground colors are!
This view shows the orange mud patches that is hidden in the photo above (under the goat’s feet). I just love the beautiful color transitions.

Water Features
Waterfalls, rivers, ponds, seas. Water features signifies life, movements and traveling. It simply makes me happy!

I love this gorgeous beaded waterfall by Irina Orlova! We could make a magical beaded fountain in our enchanted forest. Perhaps lavendar or pink waters? Beaded of course!

Fruits of Heart has the most beautiful colors in her landscapes. I love how the cool blue water contrasts with the reddish brown soil and the colors in between.
A serene pond. I like to use thick pencil roving /yarn to make grass that ring the pond. See the pond made by WoolyMammoth below.
