Hot Tuesday morning in spring. May 13, 2014.
Today Christine Newell showed our craft group how to make wet-felted earrings. This was inspired by a tutorial in Living Craft Magazine.
Below: Christine demonstrating how to get our 2 earrings to be of the same size. She rolled a length of wool roving inside a sushi mat, thus making a partially felted “noodle”. This “noodle” was then cut with scissors into equal halves/pieces.
Below: making equally sized pieces of partially felted nuggets for earrings.
After cutting up the (not fully felted) wet roving into equal pieces, we rolled them into balls between our palms with warm soapy water. The longer we rubbed and rolled, the harder, rounder and more felted the balls became.
Happy times, crafting in the morning. Christine shared with us the story of her time on a desert island as a sea captain’s girlfriend…
Christine brought in silver earring accessories for our local craft store. With 2 sets of fine pliers we crafted our handmade earrings.

Thank you Christine for yet another wonderful craft day! – Jzin
December 12, 2014. My friend Taya showed me these Beard Baubles. What do you think? Is this all wrong for your man? Well, you can handmake your own and tone it down the shine, with our wet-felting version, which would be more warm and organic looking!
