Crafting with friends. Ah! It’s The Good Times!

Wednesday, November 14, 2012. I always feel so refreshed after a morning of crafting with friends! We came together again today to hand make little Christmas gifts to stock the Elves Workshop for our upcoming Winter Festival.

This year, Winter Festival will be held on Saturday, 1pm – 5pm, December 8, 2012. The children will have a special opportunity to go inside the “Elves Workshop” to pick out their choice of handmade gifts, without being accompanied by their parents. These children will “pay” for their selections with raffle tickets.

Thank you again, to our lovely Rachel Skelly and Christine Newell for planning, preparing all the supplies, ideas, refreshments … creating this wonderful space in our busy lives to connect and create weekly.

“He who works with his hands is a laborer.
He who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman.
He who works with his hands and his head and his heart is an artist.”

Needle-Felted Birds

Thank you Julie for letting us take a peek into your needle-felting prowess!

Needle-felting an orange beak into the face…

Ditto about making the wings at the same time so they are evenly sized, recommended Julie.

Build a little birdhouse in your soul. Impress your nerdy friends by memorizing the lyrics to this awesome song! (You can belt it out to the music video on that link /bottom left of page).

Thank you to my lovely hand model Cathrine.

Today is Rosa’s first day crafting with us. She has a little one in playgroup. The other one is still in her belly. Welcome Rosa to the craft group!

This gal has a mean sense of color…

Such glorious, courageous colors! The skies, the water, down to the tones of the variedly hued fishies. This piece sings!

These shrubberies outside The Company of Angels store are rumored to house wee folks of all sorts. My child, just today insisted on coming out here so she could by chance meet and befriend at least one of these magical folks.

Meanwhile, here was what I was crafting while taking pictures …

I am needle-felting + handstitching a Snow White to go with our 7 dwarfs for our school’s fundraiser in Spring 2013. Please donate your needle-felted dwarfs! We need 6 more!

I somehow have a fondness for making dolls with reddish hair (see swatch below). Red just makes the doll more lively. However, Rachel reminded me that it won’t do! Snow White has black hair.
