Mermaid Kingdoms, Fairy Tale playscapes, Toadstool Cottage Night Light, finger puppet Gnomes and more! Come join Jzin Teng of Castle of Costa Mesa and learn how to felt, make small dolls and playscapes this summer. Pick one, or more, of the following 4 themed weeks! These 5 day long workshops (9am-12:30pm Monday-Friday) are for Adults and Children ages 7+. To register online:

Week 1: Mermaid Habitat Kingdom: Mermaids, Deep-Sea Beasts and more.
- Monday 6/15/15 – Friday 6/19/15. 9am-12:30pm. Craft felt mermaids, cave, deep sea beasts, flora and more; Then construct a theater diorama to house them all.
- Dollmaking: Needle-felt basic Mermaid and doll with legs (pirate with sword, fisherman or character from your imagination).
- Jzin’s Secret Wet-Felting Technic: Felt cave, Sea/beach playscape mat, boat, fishes.
- Felting Technics: Fish-eating-fish-eating-fish, Insidious Ink-squirting Octopus, Clam with pearl, Hydra, kelp forest, beaded starfish.
- Build Diorama Theater: with surprises to house it all … and more!
- Week 1 is over. You can view our works from week 1 here. You can still register for Week 2, 3, and 4. Spaces still open.
Week 2: Dreamy, Shimmery Mermaid Kingdom.
- Monday 6/29/15 – Friday 7/3/15. 9am-12:30pm. Make beautiful mermaids, their ocean friends and home with swing; Then construct a theater diorama to house them all.
- Dollmaking: Pretty mermaid dolls with faces and sparkly tail, merbaby, Neptune, prince or fisherman with rod.
- Jzin’s Secret Wet-Felting Technic: Mermaid cave, Sea/beach playscape mat, boat, fishes.
- Rejoicing in Textures: Fish with frilly tail, anemone, hydra, the eternally ephemeral jellyfishes, opulent beaded Starfish. To be determined based on interest of class.
- Build Diorama Theater: with surprises to house it all. Mermaid swing, birthing ring and more!
- Ideal Mommy and Me summer project: Mothers and children are welcomed to learn and to work together on the same project for one registration fee under the child’s name.
- The actual contents of the workshop is subject to change, based on discretion of the instructor and the needs and preferences of the student body.

Week 3: Fairy Tale Playscape with Toadstool Cottage Night Light
- Monday 7/6/15 – Friday 7/10/15. 9am-12:30pm. Make felted playscapes with fairy tale doll characters in an enchanted woodland with toadstool cottage night light.
- Dollmaking: Needle-felt basic girl with long skirt (Princess, Old Woman, your own design) and boy with legs (prince, woodcutter, hermit, etc)
- Jzin’s Secret Wet-Felting Technic: woodland playscape mat, boat, Toadstool cottage/night light, tree with changing foliage for the seasons.
- Ideal Mommy and Me summer project: Mothers and children are welcomed to learn and to work together on the same project for one registration fee under the child’s name.

Week 4: Woodland Playscape with Finger Warmer Gnomes
- Monday 7/20/15 – Friday 7/24/15. 9am – 12:30pm. Make felted playscapes with fairy tale dolls characters in an enchanted woodland with finger puppet gnomes.
- Dollmaking: Needle-felt basic girl with long skirt (Snow White) and boy with legs (prince, woodcutter)
- Finger Warmer Gnomes: Finger puppet gnomes to reside in the enchanted woods
- Jzin’s Secret Wet-Felting Technic: woodland playscape mat, boat, Toadstool cottage/night light, tree with changing foliage for the seasons.
- Ideal Mommy and Me summer project: Mothers and children are welcomed to learn and to work together on the same project for one registration fee under the child’s name.

Register for Workshop
Discover the versatility, textures and possibilities of felt. Create elaborate playscape and installations for Group Art Exhibition. Create Habitats for Mermaids in Week 1 and 2 courses. Craft playscapes for table top puppet show, story telling, as handmade gifts and more on Week 3 and 4. Jzin is sharing her secret techniques! $250.00 Registration gets you a kit and workshop instruction ($200 tuition + $50 supplies fee).
- What: Four separate week-long felt and craft workshops to choose from. These are 4 different independent workshops where I teach different things each week. Sign up for one, more or all the workshops. Click here to view weekly workshop contents here.

- Workshop Location: 5th Grade Classroom, Waldorf School of Orange County. 2350 Canyon Drive, Costa Mesa, CA 92627. School Phone: (949) 574-7775
- Costa Mesa is located 37 miles (60 km) southeast of Los Angeles, 88 miles (142 km) north of San Diego and 425 miles (684 km) south of San Francisco.
- To find the 5th Grade classroom: as you enter Waldorf School of Orange County, head to your left side of campus, past the basketball court. The classroom is the last one on the furthers right.
- Who: These are mixed age workshops. Adults, children age 8+, beginners to advanced crafters are welcome. I am sharing my own secret invented methods. Mommy and Me project: Mothers and children are welcomed to learn and to work together on the same project for one registration fee under the child’s name.
- Cost: $200 tuition + $50 supplies fee. $250.00 to register for each 5 day workshop. You may register multiple workshops at $250 each week.

Hello Jzin,
Thank you for everything….unfortunately we can’t make it for the July workshop. We do want to attend at a later date and have a more extended time in your area as there are so many beautiful things to see and do. I will check back often to see your later dates as I really wish to do a workshop on playmats, relief painting and if there is a felted light one too. It is disappointing, but we will definitely take one in the future.
