Friday: Showtime!

We worked on this since Monday 6/24/24. Now it’s time to share our craft and love with all!

Friday, June 28, 2024. The Apple Cake Tale whole performance video taken by Lela Thorne. Thank you for the video!

Alex made the gothic-attired girl as the gardener picking dandelion roots in the garden,

The poor woman in front of her tumbledown house.

Our eurythmy teacher, Miss Silvia came to the puppet show and she said, “Oh! That puppy looks like my dog Bella!”

As the audience joined us in singing a happy song, the puppeteers showed the happy epilogues from the kind deeds of the Old Woman.

The goose girl and her husband enjoyed some homemade plum jelly made from plums from the Old Woman.

Hurray, The poor woman with the tumble down house is now transformed magically into a lady in a white dress. Alex made a new home for the family as well…

The Lonely Old Man was lonely no more with a yapping companion by his feet!

The Script

Apple Cake Tale puppet show is based on Nieke von Hichtum’s “Apple Cake”. We removed the quarreling scene and added a scene with a gardener picking dandelion roots for tea instead.

You can view our version of the script here.

Wednesday

June 26, 2024.

We ring a bell to celebrate when an artwork is completed: “Hear ye! Hear ye! A Goose Girl doll is born today! I am naming her Isabelle. May she bring joy to the children in our puppet show!” “Happy Birthday Isabelle the Goose Girl!”

Alex needle-felted the Lonely Old Man with his cane made from a twig.

Mavry’s Goose Girl around the farm animals are ready for the puppet show on Friday!

Alex is happy that the furniture and cottage paints are dry.

Tuesday

June 25, 2024.

I let the students pick the characters and scenes they like to work on. Mavry chose to needle-felt the Goose Girl who wanted plums to make plum jelly for her husband.

One may see boxes, we see exciting crafting materials!!

Alex is inspired and went to work on the cottage of The Lonely Old Man.

The Tumbledown Cottage of the Poor Woman is done, but the characters are still wandering in the ether.

Here’s the steed I made in preparation for teaching Miss Jenell’s 4th Grade Animal Block. The Rich, Handsome, Sad Young man will be riding it.
